“FitzFirst@Four”--a new discussion series on F. Scott Fitzgerald’s short stories

Join us for a discussion series about the life and work of F. Scott Fitzgerald.

Launching in November, FitzFirst@Four is a reading series from Fitzgerald in Saint Paul, held on the first Sunday of every month at 4:00 pm at Common Good Books. Each event focuses on a different Fitzgerald short story, with a presentation from a special guest expert on events, locations, and history referenced in Fitzgerald's short stories. FitzFirst@Four is co-sponsored by Common Good Books and The Friends of the Saint Paul Public Library.

Most of the short stories discussed in this series appear in either The St. Paul Stories of F. Scott Fitzgerald, co-edited by Patricia Hampl and Dave Page, or The Short Stories of F. Scott Fitzgerald--A New Collection, edited by Matthew J Bruccoli.

4:00pm, Sunday, November 2nd
Dave Page, Fitzgerald scholar and author, joins us to help us separate fact from fiction as we explore the real neighborhood locations, families and children who animate Fitzgerald’s delightful story, “The Scandal Detectives.”

4:00pm, Sunday, December 7th
Dr. Andrea Sachs, member of the faculty at the Saint Paul Academy and Summit School, will provide a glimpse of the early history of the Saint Paul Academy, where Fitzgerald attended school, which forms the backdrop of several of his “Basil” stories, including today’s topic “The Captured Shadow.”
